The challenge
Poverty, gender inequality, violence and a lack of fair work keep many women and girls in Peru and Kenya from the future they deserve, even when the will and skill are there. With your help, they can break the cycle for themselves, their families and the next generation.
-
Our approach
We create fair jobs in textile, training opportunities, and social support — together, not separately. Our work centers on women while also supporting young changemakers, entrepreneurs and families working toward a better life.
Yet a job alone isn't enough when barriers remain. That's why childcare, protection from violence and support for young mothers are also at the heart of what we do: they turn opportunity into lasting change.
-
Your impact
Your support creates real, lasting change in vulnerable communities in Peru and Kenya. It helps a young woman build her own strawberry business, gives a teenage mother the chance to finish school, and brings women the knowledge to care for their sexual and reproductive health.
When women grow stronger, families become more stable, local economies grow fairer, and change carries on into the next generation.

FAQs
Is my donation tax-deductible? How do I get a tax receipt?
For belgian donors, donations
of 40 euros or more made via the King Baudouin Foundation give rise to a tax
reduction of 30% of the amount actually paid and stated on the certificate
issued by the Foundation.
The fiscal receipt for all your donations to the Foundation will be sent to you
at the end of February of the following year, by post or e-mail (provided the
Foundation has your e-mail address). Donations through our own website are not
tax-deductible.

Can I volunteer with Solid?
If you have skills or
experience that could add real value to our teams, we'd love to hear from you.
when it comes to volunteering with children we're intentional about how
volunteering works within our organization. Our programs are built around
long-term relationships between children and their own families, caregivers and
local team — so children thrive. Short-term volunteer contact, however
well-intentioned, can disrupt that sense of stability, which is why our
volunteer opportunities focus on supporting families, communities and local
teams, rather than direct, unsupervised time with children.
Can I donate items, like books or school supplies, to Solid?
We don't accept these
kinds of donations, due to the cost of transportation.
